Assistant Professor (Cetacean Biologist)

Oregon State University's Marine Mammal Institute invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Cetacean Biology:

The major focus of this position is to discover and disseminate new information through innovative research programs to better understand cetacean biology and related ecosystem, conservation, and management issues.  Areas of expertise can include one or more of the following: population biology, life history, health assessment, ecology, conservation biology, physiology, and quantifying the impact of anthropogenic stressors and development of science-based solutions to mitigate these impacts. Taxonomic focus can include all species of cetaceans; geographic focus can be local, national, and international. Also desired is the development and application of novel equipment, field and laboratory techniques, experimental designs, and analytical methods.

Special consideration will be given to candidates with a strong track record of collaboration across a wide range of institutions and with expertise that complements existing strengths within the Marine Mammal Institute. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. This position is part of a cluster hire in association with Oregon State University's Marine Studies Initiative.
