Just a gentle reminder that the 2017 Southeast and Mid-Atlantic Marine Mammal Symposium (SEAMAMMS) will take place April 7-9, 2016 in Beaufort, NC and will be co-hosted by the Duke Marine Lab and the North Carolina Maritime Museum. For meeting details, information on abstract submission, and to register, please visit: https://seamamms.wordpress.com

Please note that abstracts must be submitted online by 5:00 PM EST this Friday, February 17th. Early Registration will end on March 11th - we encourage everyone to register early.

SEAMAMMS is a regional, student-oriented, scientific marine mammal meeting. Preference will be given to marine mammal research conducted in the mid-Atlantic and southeast US or conducted by students in the same region. Other topics will be considered as space is available.

We will have a great program, including a panel discussion on the future of the MMPA and ESA, including Abby Hopper, who served as Director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy and Management (BOEM) under President Obama, Brendan Cummings from the Center for Biological Diversity and Ingrid Biedron from Oceana.

If you have additional questions that are not addressed on the website please e-mail seamamms at gmail.com<mailto:seamamms at gmail.com>.

Additionally, the North Carolina Maritime Museum (also in Beaufort, NC) is hosting a free Symposium on North Carolina Whales & Whaling on April 7th before the Seamamms 2017 Ice Breaker. Learn more at: https://seamamms.wordpress.com/schedule/whales-and-whaling/

We hope to see you in April!
