Registration is now open for the World Whale Conference 2017. http://worldwhaleconference.org/ 


The WWC 2017 will be held in Durban, South Africa from June 24-29th 2017. 


Stakeholders in whale conservation and welfare, whale/dolphin watching, travel & tourism, etc. from around the world are invited to join together to discuss strategies and develop minimum standards Towards Responsible Tourism for Cetaceans.

World Cetacean Alliance (WCA) Conference 2017:

(Monday 26th & Tuesday 27th June 2017)


Key outputs of this conference will be the development of Global Minimum Standards and Best Practice Guidance for Cetacean Tourism in the following areas:

·         Cetaceans in Captivity

·         Commercial Whale and Dolphin Watching

·         In-Water Encounters with Wild Cetaceans

·         Rescue and Rehabilitation Programmes


Whale Heritage Sites Summit 2017:

(Wednesday 28th & Thursday 29th June 2017)


Outputs from the WHS Summit will include:

·         WHS applicants and candidate sites showcased

·         WHS criteria and process improved

·         Concept developed for a Whale Heritage Trail initiative (S. Africa case study)

·         Training received for WHS partners interested in auditing sites

·         Help and advice for prospective sites


Delegates are invited to submit a proposal to host a workshop at the WWC 2017. Workshops will be held on Sunday 25th June, at the conference venue, the Hotel Protea Edward, Durban.
