The next issue of the /Herald/ will be commemorative to recognize his extraordinary contributions, and the next issue of /Deus Loci/ will be dedicated to Michael, who has an article in it. Peter Baldwin will attend Michael's funeral on behalf of the ILDS. Michael was a wonderful friend, probably the finest host I have ever known, and able to draw magic from the air with wit, care, and kindness. I'm remembering with great fondness a long, long trek around London with him and Charles Sligh as my guides, and visits to his home that are among my fondest memories. Candles, hushed lamps, glowing heraldic faces, half-emptied glasses, & conversations of the perfect vintage... It's like a dog-eared page I go back to over & over. I will miss him. Ave atque vale. I spoke to Michael once about Eve Cohen about a decade ago and found him to be an absolute gentleman, extremely generous with his care and time.
