I?ve read BOOK 4, BOOK 1, and now near the end of BOOK 2 Karl Ove says ?Writing a novel is setting yourself a goal and then walking there in your sleep ? Lawrence Durrell had once said that was what it was like, and it was true.? Does anyone recognize the quotation? I am biased against Knaussgard - disliked vol 1 so much that I gave it and vol 2 (which I had ordered with vol 1) away pretty quickly. K seems to me to be one of those writers who take several pages to say what could and should be said in 1 para.
