Not surprising.  What’s with these teenagers Durrell bedded or not?  MacNiven mentions Stela A. Ghetie, a “young Romanian,” who gets the dedication to Quinx?  Apparently they never met but carried on a “passionate correspondence” (662-63).  All this brings to mind Mountolive stumbling into a child brothel, which generates a similar echo in the Quintet.
