I should have added my favourite as well, in 2.4.2:

"The trouble with memory, and its prolix self-seeding process, is that 
it can always by-pass the points of intersection at which we recognise, 
or seem to recognise, the action of a temporal causality." (p. 86)

Causality (and determinism) are close to memory.
