I may be wrong, but I seem to recall Allyson once expressed an interest in Durrell’s use of figurative language. Perhaps she can describe what she meant.

I have to go and teach my nephew today - his English is a concern to my sister (I think she is over reacting), so I am assisting him with grammar, spelling and understanding of narratives. Have I told you that I love crime novels? I have just written an article on the Italian crime novelist Valerio Varesi - I told you I was moving away from Larry and this is my first offering outside of his work. French is a great help, though it is a much softer and more beautiful language than Italian.
