Marc I haven';t been as thorough as you up to now, but if I were a forger, I would have done the crafty thing and included the letters which, as the bookseller states, have been previously published. Forgery these days is easy, and I know of at least one distinguished critic of D who could write a very convincing 'Larry'!
Puzzle: as there are a couple which refer to D's intentions in the QUINTET - and in terms which any critic would want to explore - I wonder why Ian MacNiven didn't use them also in his biog, considering that he DID use 3.5 of them. And those mentions of the QUINTET surprise me, as nowhere else, as far as I am aware, does D refer to it in such explicit terms.
More questions, fewer answers.

I found this suspicious. Also in Letter N?11 in the French, there are several gramatical errors that don't make sens coming from Ghislaine... also her English considering her education should be better. In letter N? 13 the mispelling of the town of Reims is not logical.Hope to have time to read the letters slowly in the next week.Best regards,MarcLe 13/11/15 21:17, Bruce Redwine a ?crit :> Richard,>> Thanks for the clarification on the provenance > of the Durrell-Miller letters. Why should they be in a remote Canadian province rather than a centre of learning? And who would have access to them? At least we have the texts available, thanks to the bookseller.RP -----Original Message-----From: ilds-request at lists.uvic.ca [mailto:ilds-request at lists.uvic.ca]Sent: Saturday, November 14, 2015 03:00 PMTo: ilds at lists.uvic.caSubject: ILDS Digest, Vol 103, Issue 7Send ILDS mailing list submissions to ilds at lists.uvic.caTo subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit https://lists.uvic.ca/mailman/listinfo/ildsor, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to ilds-request at lists.uvic.caYou can reach the person managing the list at ilds-owner at lists.uvic.caWhen replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specificthan "Re: Contents of ILDS digest..."Today's Topics: 1. When the archive failed to sell en bloc the decision was taken to break it up in a series of sales held at Pacific Book Auctions in the mid-1990s. As a consequence of this, the majority of the archive was sold in individual lots to private collectors. The Durrell letters were acquired at that time by the Canadian collector Robert Shulman.
