Good question. Are the letters forgeries? What's the provenance? Henry Miller's estate or someone associated with it? That should help to authenticate. They sound like Durrell, however.

LD letters for sale (Anthony Hirst) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Tue, 10 Nov 2015 08:13:10 +0000 From: Anthony Hirst To: ilds at lists.uvic.ca Subject: [ilds] LD letters for sale Message-ID: <969F8594-7AC1-405A-A0C1-EF0B4445F490 at btinternet.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="windows-1252" This may not be news to ILDS list readers, but, just in case it is, I thought I should pass it on. Yesterday I receive an email, addressed to me personally, from Clouds Hill Books stating that: <> The brochure that goes with the offer of sale (pdf attached to this email) contains the full texts. A quick check suggests that most of the 16 items offered for sale are not included in The Durrell-Miller Letters, 1935-80. There is no information about the provenance of the typescripts/manuscripts concerned. If anyone knows more it would be good to hear it. The background material in the brochure is simply extracts from Ian MacNiven's narrative contributions to The Durrell-Miller Letters. While few of us are likely to have a spare $17,500, perhaps someone could use their influence with one of the libraries/archives that already hold Durrell collections. It would be a great pity if the letters were to end up inaccessible in a private collection. Contact details for Clouds Hill Books are are below.
