James, yes, smelled a rat immediately: the story was too overblown. Felt that RP would be enjoying the sunshine of Prospero's Island. Have begun Tunc and will make comments shortly; already impressed (strange, but assuredly written). I like books that begin with drunks speaking to each other in tongues..
