Regarding venues for meetings of the ILDS:
Providing we can survive the current economic downturn, the Durrell School of Corfu would very gladly host OMG in Corfu in 2012, the LD centenary year. I think the Executive of the ILDS is well aware of this offer.

Dear Durrellians great and small, short and tall,

Seasons greetings to you all from the land down under where, you know, it is Christmas in Summer which may strike you as odd but we are used to it - although I feel sorry for the fat blokes in Santa suits out on the streets in 35 degree heat.

Thanks all who contributed to the debates, harangues, observations commentaries and in depth analysis of our short, stocky wine loving writer friend or fiend depending on your perspective. 

Highlights for me include the fiery intellect of Bruce Redwine, the calm poise of Charles Sligh, the enigmatic Marc Piel, the midnight raves of R W Hedges, the scholarly  Mr. Gifford, the brief and to the point W. Godshalk and many more - I was particularly delighted to hear from Renata Vassilou who worked for Larry in the 1980s and provided humorous insights into her employers wine preferences (just mix them) and other domestic details.

All power to the pen of Michael Haag. I look forward to his new biography and hope that it will bring fresh knowledge to light and be controversal and intriguing as Durrell himself.
