 The truth about your Durrell is that his brothers work is so much easier for the layman to digest. I read 'Rosy is my relative' the other day-in a few sittings- and I still cant get over the fun of it all. Balls to the bad man of words. The description of food was enough to make me want to cook till my hands felt my belly explode thru my book. What a laugh. You don't get that in Lawrence do you? 
 Well, actually you do. I have read little of the dearly departed. However he wanted to reach out to his culinary readers, his wasteful readers, his non-educatious dim fuggers! It is not the lapse of time that makes a difference between you and understanding. It is the fact that he really liked to talk shit inbetween that poetry- just like any human would.
  OK I never did my homework! I guess this is a guilt message. But I have to say that when I do get to read Prosperos Cell it will be a revelation to me compared to the in's and outs of other relevent Durrel parephenalia(spugucopuois) that keeps a sturdy Durrelian blowing in the wings.
