James et al.,

I can't speak to the text itself, but purely as productions the volumes are quite handsome. The only concern I have, and it's a minor one, is that the period photos "date" the work in a way that words alone do not. Obviously the Quartet is very much of its time (and contains material reflecting earlier times), but as a living work of art it transcends such elements. Perhaps the photos get in the way of this process. On the other hand, I'm glad to see yet another face of a work that itself has so many faces.
