Hello all,

While in Louisville, Dianne Vipond shared that she'd seen an obituary 
for Peter G. Christensen in the /PMLA/.  Peter attended and spoke at 
many ILDS events, published extensively on Durrell, and I'm sure many 
here will remember him for his intellectual generosity.  I was in 
correspondence with him only a few months before his death and had not 
realized he'd died, evidently unexpectedly from heart failure.

Peter's academic output was enormous, and many of us have likely seen 
his paper on Durrell and Groddeck, which appeared in /Cafe in Space/ 
shortly before his death.  Peter's research and teaching work seems to 
have covered nearly every aspect of world literature and cinema 
imaginable, from courses in Soviet Silent Films and the Australian Novel 
to Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Modernism.
