Okay, I bethunk myself, and the great duck shoot is exactly what I'm 
talking about when I say that nothing really happens. The narrator 
fears that there will be gun play. As I recall, Justine gives him a 
Purdy shotgun just in case. And there's only a hunt for ducks. The 
narrator admits that he's a so-so shot, but he does kill some ducks. 
Later we learn that Capodistria's death was faked.

Okay, Charlie, let's get the dawgs in the pickup and shoot us some 
ducks for dinner.
