David has gone above and beyond in his observations on /Reflections on a
Marine Venus/. Let me second his invitation. Surely someone out there
cares as much about Durrell's writing as much as David Green and our
regular cadre of three or four posters?
I'll quote Merwin's "To the Soul," a fine late poem which he read when
he passed through North Carolina last month:
Is anyone there
if so
are you real
either way are you
one or several
if the latter
are you all at once
or do you
take turns not answering
