I don't think this list is meant to act as the forum for an exclusive
clique. Like many such email lists there is a preponderance of posts from a
few people, many of them specialist academics who have the time and the
resources to put into LD (or whatever subject is being discussed). My own
problem with your last message was based on what I felt was an unfair attack
on someone who has proven, over many years, that he is absolutely not
elitist. Or any other "ist" (I refer to Godshalk).

Anyway, thank you for your reasoned and very calm reply, and I must
apologise for having taken umbrage. Maybe we can agree to step back and
continue to enjoy the cut and thrust of the usual topics. I hope you will
agree that the advantage that you and I (and others like us) can take from
membership of this email list is the incredible wealth of information and
lateral thought that it provokes !
