Here is a conference update :
On Miracle Ground XV
Lawerence Durrell: A Writer at the Crossroads of Arts and Sciences
 
Please Note: Spaces are very limited for the luncheon at the Procope and 
for the dinner cruise on the Seine. Please make you reservations as soon 
as possible. (See below)
 
PROPOSAL DEADLINE SUBMITTED
The deadline for paper proposals has been extended to March 15, 2008. If 
you have already submitted a proposal, you should receive an acceptance 
letter from the University of Paris shortly.
 
Send paper proposals, inlcuding a 250 word abstract, a short biography, 
and a request for any necessary audio-visual equipment to

There will also be an international poetry contest held in association 
with the conference. If you would like to participate in the poetry 
conference,submit your poems to Véronique Maylin at 
concoursepoesie at u-paris10.fr by February 25, 2008. Maximum length 1000 
characters, including spaces).
 
REGISTRATION FEES
Full Conference Package
Regular: $100 US before March 15, 2008; $140 US after April 1, 2008
Student: $65 US before March 15, 2008; $100 US after April 1, 2008
 
The full registration package includes:
-- Registration for the conference for all four days (July 1 - 4, 2008
-- A perormance of Sappho on tuesday night followed by a welcome cocktail
-- A 5 day Metro and RER "Paris Visite" pass
-- Gourmet coffee breaks on conference days

ADDITIONAL EVENTS AND EXCURSIONS to be paid for in euros to the 
Université Paris X:
Lunch (with wine) will be available in Nanterre on July 1, 2, and 3 for 
10 euros each day (Students 5 euros)
 
Tuesday July 1
Guided Tour (in English) of literary and artistic Paris including 
Montparnesse, the musée Zadkine, the Villa Seurat, and the Cloiserie des 
Lilas. 8 euros/ person.
 
Friday, July 4
Lunch at the Procope (founded in 1669) the restaurant where philosphers 
of the Englishtenment used to meet and where Benjamin Franklin worked on 
a draft of the American Constitution. 35 euros/person.
 
Saturday, July 5
Dinner Cruise on the Seine (see _http://www.lecapitainefracasse.com_

50 euros/person without alcohol.
69 euros/person with cocktail, wine, mineral water, and coffee.
 
A one day visit to Giverny (Monet's house and gardens) is available for

Conference attendees are responsible for making their own hotel 
arrangements in Paris. A list of recommended hotels in central Paris
