How could I have forgotten Michael (again?!) -- yes, his book is 
excellent, as Charles notes too.  It's worth adding Robert Liddell's 
_Unreal City_ as a novel sitting behind the _Quartet_, including aCavafy 
figure (to be expected given Liddell's biography of Cavafy).
