[CaBSSem] CABS Seminar Friday Feb 15 3:30-5:00: Robert Gifford (COR A228)

Wed Feb 13 11:22:19 PST 2019

This Friday the Department of Psychology Cognition and Brain Sciences Program features a talk by Robert Gifford, from the Department of Psychology (UVic). Bob's talk is titled: "The Dragons of Inaction: Psychological Barriers to Environmental Action."

"Most people recognize that humans are causing problems for the environment,
and understand that the environment will “bite back” – in fact, is already
doing so. Although most of us are doing at least something to lessen the damage,
most of us also are not doing enough to stem the tide. Why is that? This talk
explores the psychological barriers (short-circuited cognitions?) that hold us
back, and introduces Dr. Bob’s eco-menagerie as part of the solution to this
issue that Barack Obama called “the defining issue of the 21st century.""

Seminar to be held on Friday Feb 15, 3:30-5:00, in COR A228 (the Reading Room; note the later starting time this semester). Everyone is welcome to attend. Arrive early to ensure a seat!
